Cleaning and repainting in La Chapelle d'Armentières

Context of the project

A project desired by the residents

The renovation project for the Omer Ollivier residence, owned by Lille Métropole Habitat in La Chapelle d’Armentières, was launched in January 2025 for the building envelope works. FlyRenov was selected to carry out the cleaning and repainting of the façades. This large-scale project is being conducted in coordination with three other trades – masonry, VRD, and locksmithing – in order to profoundly transform the appearance of the residence and its surroundings. The works also aim to secure the balconies and improve summer comfort by enhancing the albedo of the façades.

A well-anticipated winter project

The winter did not make the initial intervention phases easy: heavy rains made it difficult to move the many machines used by all trades. To address this and secure the manoeuvres, access plates were installed, allowing access to the façades without damaging the ground. The initial works focused on cleaning and treatment in order to wait for temperatures compatible with repainting the supports.

Project phases

Cleaning the façades: high pressure and precision

A thorough job over two and a half months

A team of three people was mobilised for two and a half months to carry out a complete high-pressure cleaning of the façades. This meticulous work allowed for the removal of dirt, moss, and lichen in preparation for antifungal treatments.

Antifungal treatment: drone spraying

A cutting-edge technology: the FlyRenov façade treatment drone

The application of the antifungal treatment Fongistop from Licef was completed in record time using a FlyRenov drone: the 5000 m² of façade was treated in just 3 days.

  • Preparation of metal surfaces

  • Scraping and application of rust inhibitor

The metal cladding required prior scraping with a wire brush to remove traces of corrosion and non-adherent particles. Then, a layer of rust inhibitor was applied, ensuring durable protection of the supports before painting.

  • Painting: performance and durability

  • Dryonic bionic paint

We chose to implement Dryonic paint from STO, a next-generation coating with a bionic active principle. This innovative product keeps the façades dry thanks to its water-repellent properties, thereby limiting the appearance of algae and fungi.

Occasional replacements

Facade panels in CAREA were also replaced on occasion to ensure visual and functional uniformity throughout.

Conclusion

This cleaning and repainting project perfectly illustrates FlyRenov's technical expertise in all facade maintenance work, including complex tasks like the replacement of cladding panels. Lille Métropole Habitat was also able to benefit from our technological innovations with the drone facade treatment. Despite complex weather conditions at the start of the project, progress has always remained smooth and structured. If the pace is maintained, the finishing touches will be ready for summer, ensuring suitable thermal comfort from the first year of work!
